Annual Activities
Chi Chapter sponsors the following activities annually:
- Career Exploration Forum for
Indiana University School of Library and Information Science
Students
- In 2001, Chi Chapter restructured the Career Forum to
emphasize negotiating a job offer. Originally, this event was
designed to give students the opportunity to meet and hear from
practitioners with various specialties and from a variety of
institutions within the state of Indiana. It is scheduled in the
Fall prior to the date for Spring course registration in order to
help students design their course work with information about
specific careers in mind. In the past, student and state chapters
of various library associations cosponsored the forum. A panel of
librarians gave presentations on careers in academic libraries,
special libraries, school libraries, public libraries,
information brokerage, and information science. Break-out
sessions followed, with students able to talk to the panelists
and other professionals who attended from around the state. For
information on the next forum, please contact the individual
listed at the bottom of this page.
- Initiation and Awards Ceremony
- Chi Chapter inducts new members at an annual event that
traditionally coincides with the Indiana Library Federation
Conference in the Spring. Formal presentations of both the Service Award and Scholarship Award are made at this
event.
